Who is our new music director? Allow me to answer this question so you can better know me for who I am, and not just the man playing the Piano or Organ and singing during the Liturgies and Celebrations at Saint Catherine of Siena Parish.
My name is Troy Killorn, I was born in Los Angeles and raised in the Northern Rocky Mountains, most of my growing up years on the ranch in Montana. I come from a large family by today’s standards, I have two brothers and two sisters, of which I am the second oldest. Music has always been a very important part of my life and something that I discovered early in my childhood. It all began in the 3rd grade when I joined the orchestra an began learning the violin. It was very apparent to my parents and grandparents that I had a God given talent in music. At the beginning of the summer between 3rd and 4th grade my grandparents bought a new piano for our family, and music has been an important part of my life ever since. I started taking piano lessons in the 4th grade, voice lessons in 6th, String Bass in 7th and Organ in 9th. I started playing for Sunday services in high school, and have continued ever since. I come to Saint Catherine’s from Saint Joseph’s Parish in Vacaville where I was music director/organist and plant manager in charge of maintenance and prior to that, Saint Joseph’s in Lincoln (north of Sacramento) where I was music director/organist for the 8 years. When I am not playing at church I enjoy, gardening, baking, garden railroading, and playing the various church organs in our area. From the first day I walked through the front doors of the church I can say I feel “at home” here at Saint Catherine of Siena Parish. I am truly blessed to become a new member of the Parish Family.
