Today on the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the universal church observes World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests. Jesus Christ loved us so much that He left us the Holy Priesthood for He did not want to leave us as orphans. He not only gave us a beautiful Mother in Heaven but he gave to each of us His Spiritual Fatherhood through His priests. As I type this before my eyes are images of priests hanging above my desk that are so dear to me. They are the ones that God sent to my heart to unveil His love, truth and mercy. I carry them in the womb of my heart. As I know each of you carry priests in your own hearts. I read somewhere that to be a Spiritual Mother/Spiritual Father of Priests is a sacred gift that has been entrusted to us by God. How true that is and what an incredible honor to pray, to sacrifice, to make reparation for our priests. They need us and we so desperately need them. I read once that praying for priests is as vital as breathing. Servant of God, Father John A. Hardon said, "It is a divine mandate to pray and sacrifice for priests." To be able to gift our church that we love so much with our sufferings in which pain is turned into prayer for Our Lady's priests and in doing so we renew the church.
Earlier today I was reflecting on two priests that God sent to my heart Father Marx and Father Flavian who I believe are now in Heaven. They both loved Our Blessed Mother so very much. I remember the day I drove Father Marx to the hospital to meet Father Flavian. I sat back in awe just watching and hearing the two priests speak to one another with such love and admiration. How they looked up to one another it was a beautiful sight to witness. How they loved being priests. And they both had a great love to pray for their brother priests. They both saw the importance and urgency of praying for priests. In thinking of them both I was thinking of Father Willie Doyle, S.J. who was killed in World War I. He was a priest who offered his life in reparation for the sins of priests. I first learned about him back in March. I came across a beautiful article written about him and what he said about priests. I have attached it in PDF format. Also I have attached the Chaplet of Reparation for you, and two one minute audios that are so very powerful. Here is a beautiful picture of my two Spiritual Fathers, Father Flavian and Father Marx. Just look at their smiles they so enjoyed one another's company. And lastly I'm attaching two short videos both around seven minutes long that I think you would love.
God bless you all through the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Our Blessed Mother.
