As the Diocese of Oakland as well as our neighboring parishes are making changes to their schedules and programs, we at St. Catherine of Siena are also experiencing changes at our Parish. Consolidation of our Mass schedule is one way to bring the larger community together at Mass and save the cost of operating the church for Holy Mass for smaller gatherings of people. In February I suspended the 7 am Holy Mass and at the end of May, I suspended the 1 pm Spanish liturgy. I know that these changes can be difficult for the faithful and for all of us there is a sadness to lose what we have always had. As we anticipate more changes to come in our Diocese and Parish, we are blessed to have three liturgies available at St. Catherine for our community. Many have worshiped and served faithfully, and my hope and prayer are that they find a place in the larger community with our other Holy Masses. All are welcome and invited to participate as parishioners, lectors, cantors, ushers, and in other ministries. Please contact the Parish Office for more details. If you would like a list of Holy Masses available in Spanish CLICK HERE
Greetings Brothers and Sisters As a Parish community we don’t often talk about the financial needs of the Parish, but today I have drafted a letter to all of you communicating some of the current issues and needs of our parish We have had for some time the Financial Statement from 2022 available for pick up in the vestibule of the church and on our website. Through prayer and discernment, there have been some changes to our current budget for this year, and probably will be more changes to come. It is not easy to make changes that affect parts of our parish community that are dear to us. Unfortunately, sometimes our circumstances determine that changes happen, as with your own budgets we cannot continue to provide products and services that are outside of our means. Please read the attached letter and visit our Financial Update page for copies of the most current Parish financial statements. You are welcome to call the Parish business office for more information and questions. I ask for your continued prayers for myself and the community of St. Catherine of Siena. Click here
The Bishop's Ministries Appeal supports the ministries that go out into the parishes: faith formation and evangelization, CYO sports, formation of priests to serve parishioners, care of the retired priests, and meeting the unexpected needs of schools and parishes.
We would love to hear your fond memories of St. Catherine of Siena Parish or School. Please send any stories 300 words or less, to Sylvia Lloren at [email protected].
